This skillet cookie has become a favorite in my home for cozy evenings and quick dessert fixes.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (250 g) all purpose flour: dry ingredient
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda: dry ingredient
  • 1/2 teaspoon fine sea salt: dry ingredient
  • 3/4 cup (170 g) unsalted butter melted and slightly cooled: wet ingredient
  • 1 cup (200 g) packed brown sugar: wet ingredient
  • 1/4 cup (50 g) granulated sugar: wet ingredient
  • 2 large eggs: wet ingredient
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract: wet ingredient
  • 1 1/2 cups (270 g) semi sweet chocolate chips: add in
  • Flaky sea salt for topping (optional): add in

Instructions

Preheat Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Mix Dry Ingredients:
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour baking soda and salt Set aside.
Mix Wet Ingredients:
In a large bowl combine melted butter brown sugar and granulated sugar Whisk until smooth and glossy.
Add Eggs and Vanilla:
Add eggs and vanilla extract to the wet mixture whisking until fully incorporated.
Combine Mixtures:
Gradually stir in the dry ingredients with a spatula until just combined (do not overmix).
Fold in Chocolate Chips:
Fold in chocolate chips reserving a handful for the top.
Prepare Skillet:
Spread the dough evenly into a 10 inch (25 cm) oven safe skillet (cast iron preferred) smoothing the top Sprinkle reserved chocolate chips and flaky sea salt over the dough.
Bake:
Bake for 22 25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown and the center is just set but still soft.
Cool and Serve:
Let cool for 5 10 minutes Serve warm straight from the skillet with ice cream if desired.
