Oreo Cookie Sushi Rolls (Printable)

Sweet sushi-style rolls made with Oreo crumbs, banana, and strawberry jam, served with a chocolate dipping sauce.

# What you'll need:

→ Sushi Rolls

01 - 20 Oreo cookies
02 - 3 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
03 - 1 banana, peeled
04 - 2 tablespoons sweetened shredded coconut
05 - 2 tablespoons strawberry jam or fruit preserves

→ Chocolate Soy Dip

06 - ½ cup semisweet chocolate chips
07 - 2 tablespoons heavy cream
08 - 1 teaspoon soy sauce (optional)

→ Garnishes

09 - 1 tablespoon sprinkles (optional)
10 - Extra shredded coconut (optional)

# How to make it:

01 - Separate Oreo cookies and remove cream filling. Place cookies in a food processor and pulse until fine crumbs form.
02 - Add softened cream cheese to Oreo crumbs and blend until the mixture becomes sticky and holds together.
03 - Spread plastic wrap on a flat surface. Shape the Oreo mixture into an 8 x 6 inch rectangle approximately ¼ inch thick.
04 - Spread a thin layer of strawberry jam over the surface and sprinkle evenly with shredded coconut.
05 - Position the peeled banana lengthwise near one edge of the rectangle.
06 - Using the plastic wrap to assist, roll the mixture tightly around the banana creating a log. Refrigerate for 10 minutes to firm.
07 - In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and heavy cream. Heat in 20-second intervals, stirring until melted and smooth. Stir in soy sauce if desired.
08 - Remove plastic wrap and cut the roll into 1-inch thick pieces. Arrange on a serving platter.
09 - Serve the sliced rolls with chocolate soy dip on the side. Garnish with sprinkles or extra shredded coconut as preferred.

# Expert suggestions:

01 -
  • It looks impressive but takes less than half an hour from start to finish, no baking required.
  • Kids can actually help with every step, and they love the silly concept of cookie sushi.
  • The chocolate dip with a hint of soy sauce tastes richer and more complex than you'd expect.
  • You probably have most of the ingredients already, and it's endlessly customizable.
02 -
  • If the Oreo mixture is too crumbly to roll, add another tablespoon of cream cheese; if it's too sticky, chill it for five minutes before shaping.
  • A warm knife cuts cleaner slices, so run it under hot water and dry it between each cut.
  • Don't skip chilling the roll or it will squish and lose its shape when you slice it.
03 -
  • Press the Oreo mixture firmly when shaping or it will fall apart when you roll it.
  • Use a serrated knife for slicing if your regular knife squishes the roll.
  • The soy sauce in the chocolate sounds odd but it's the secret that makes people ask for the recipe.
