Instant Ramen Grilled Cheese (Printable)

Crispy ramen patties sandwich melted cheese with hot sauce in a quick, tasty fusion snack or lunch.

# What you'll need:

→ Ramen

01 - 1 package (3 oz) instant ramen noodles, flavor packet reserved or discarded
02 - 1 large egg

→ Cheese Filling

03 - 4 slices (2.8 oz) cheddar cheese or cheese of choice
04 - 2 teaspoons hot sauce, adjust to taste

→ For Cooking

05 - 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
06 - Salt and pepper, to taste

# How to make it:

01 - Bring 4 cups water to a boil. Add ramen noodles and cook for 2 minutes until just tender. Drain thoroughly and let cool slightly.
02 - Beat egg in a bowl. Add drained noodles and season lightly with salt and pepper. Mix until noodles are coated evenly.
03 - Divide noodle mixture into four equal portions. Press each portion into a compact patty using a ring mold or small bowl lined with parchment, approximately sandwich bread size.
04 - Heat 1 tablespoon butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Cook noodle patties in batches for 3–4 minutes per side until golden and crispy. Remove patties and repeat as needed.
05 - Place two noodle patties on a clean surface. Layer each with two cheese slices and drizzle with hot sauce. Top with remaining noodle patties to form sandwiches.
06 - Wipe skillet clean, melt remaining 1 tablespoon butter over low heat. Cook sandwiches 2–3 minutes per side, pressing gently, until cheese melts and exteriors are crisp.
07 - Slice sandwiches in half and serve immediately while hot.

# Expert suggestions:

01 -
  • The crunch of the ramen crust gives you the satisfaction of a grilled cheese with the most incredible crispy texture
  • It comes together in under 30 minutes but tastes like something from a gourmet food truck
02 -
  • Let the noodles cool slightly before mixing with the egg or the egg will scramble and you will lose that binding effect
  • Press the noodle mixture firmly into your mold because loose patties will fall apart when you flip them
03 -
  • Use parchment paper squares to lift the patties out of your mold without breaking them
  • Let the assembled sandwiches rest for 30 seconds before cutting so the cheese sets slightly
