# What you'll need:
→ Crust and Crumble
01 - 2 cups all-purpose flour
02 - 1 cup granulated sugar
03 - 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
04 - 1/4 teaspoon salt
05 - 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
06 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
→ Apple Filling
07 - 4 medium apples, peeled, cored, and diced (approximately 3 cups)
08 - 1/3 cup granulated sugar
09 - 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
10 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
11 - 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
12 - 2 teaspoons lemon juice
# How to make it:
01 - Preheat the oven to 350°F. Line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
02 - In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add cold cubed butter and vanilla extract, then blend with a pastry cutter or fingertips until the mixture forms coarse crumbs.
03 - Set aside 1 cup of the crumb mixture for topping. Press the remaining mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form a firm crust.
04 - In a separate bowl, toss diced apples with sugar, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice until thoroughly coated.
05 - Spread the apple mixture evenly over the crust, then sprinkle the reserved crumble mixture evenly on top.
06 - Bake for 38 to 42 minutes, until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender.
07 - Allow bars to cool completely in the pan before lifting out and slicing.
