- Sauce: 800 g (28 oz) canned crushed tomatoes, 400 g (14 oz) canned tomato sauce, 2 tbsp tomato paste, 1 tsp dried basil, 1 tsp dried oregano, 1/2 tsp dried thyme, 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional), 1 tsp sugar, Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Cheese: 250 g (2 cups) shredded mozzarella cheese, 125 g (1 cup) grated Parmesan cheese, 425 g (15 oz) ricotta cheese
- Others: 2 tbsp olive oil, Fresh basil leaves for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Step 1:
- Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F). Lightly grease a 23x33 cm (9x13 inch) baking dish.
- Step 2:
- Cook the ziti pasta in a large pot of salted boiling water until just al dente, about 8 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- Step 3:
- In a large skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil. Add the Italian sausage, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned, about 5 minutes. Remove excess fat if necessary.
